So I have been amusing myself by looking for really crappy eurovision songs from the past 10 years. I know i should be defending the contest but sometimes things just go horrible wrong, even for the best of us.

These songs are nowhere near my MP3player, so I realized I had actually even forgotten that some of them took part in this over 50 year old contest!

Here we go, random order, no actually, chronological order:

1. Romania 2000 Taxi Luna

I dont care if the intro sounds promising. As soon as the guy starts to sing i want to jam something into my ear. Who allowed this guy to sing?Anywhere? It sounds like an orgasm gone wrong.

2. Estonia 2001 Everybody Tanel Padar and Dave Benton

I dont care if they are the winners of eurovision. This song is SO bad from the very first “are YOU ready”. I dont know what the European viewers were thinking of this evening, voting this song as the winner. Maybe they were dreaming about their upcoming charter trip and this performance reminded them of the super sunny boys of mallorca at the afterbeach in-hotel warmuptheguests-party. barf. Funnily enough the Portuguese song which sounded almost the same ended up 17th.

Also remember that this is the same year that gave us two wonderful Micheles (Germany and The Netherlands), Hano from Bosnia, Nusa Derenda with Energy, Antique and I will die for you and one of my all time favorites Je n’ai que mon ame with Natasha St Pier.

3.Norway 2001 Haldor Lægreid – On my own

“Tender years”, he really sounds like the musical star he is, just that there are no feelings in this just horridness. This is the kind of song where you are wondering if it is really three minutes long. One moment in time gone terribly terribly wrong. No wonder it came last.

4. Russia 2001 Mumiy Troll – Lady Alpine Blue

This guy has the same problem as Romania 2000. His voice is just excruciating. Maybe the song isnt too bad but Im just not listening anymore cuz the cotton in my ears is as thick as his blues.

5. Romania 2002
6. Latvia 2004 (i didnt even remember this song)
7. Croatia 2004 (in ENGLISH??)

Did Julio Iglesias decide to participate again?

8.Croatia 2007
9. Armenia 2007
10. Estonia 2008

11. Moldova 2008

12. Lithuania 2008- The Pirates from hell

13. Latvia 2008

14. Latvia 2009

15. Belarus 2010

2006 was a really good year!!

So four cities are in the running to becoming Europe’s next hosting city.

They are: Berlin, Hamburg, Hannover and Dusseldorf. On September 15, 2010 the German TV-channel host NRD will announce who it will be.

Tempelhof Airport, Berlin.

One thing I think is kind of strange that all cities are in the northern part of Germany, or at least Northern half, AND in former Westgermany. Of course East-germany could have applied, and they didnt, but it’s kind of a shame that they didnt because it would have been a chance to show of the “new Germany”, sort of…

A small overview of the cities and thanks for info from blog.prinz.de.

Berlin: The obvious choice one might think. The capital, 3,5 million inhabitants, history of merging east and west. They opt for staging it at the Tempelhof airport (the one used for the Luftbrucke, during the cold war when Westberlin was cut off so the allies had to fly in all the food and stuff)

Another option is Messegelande, also in former Westberlin, the Trade Fair which has a Tvtower that kind of looks like the Eiffeiltower.
I think Berlin would be really cool, but the negative aspect is that Berlin is so HUGE and there is SO much going on, if only to mention gay bars, there is the gay area in Schoneberg, but there are gay and friendly places all over, so people would be spread out and not gather in one place. But it would be kind of cool to be at the historic place of Tempelhof…And then the positive historical meaning, thinking of the WWII and the cold war, united Berlin is really a TRUE symbol of peace and that the war is finally over… (in many people’s minds it still isnt, let’s not forget that…)

Hamburg. I really like Hamburg, it is Germany’s second city but it feels smaller, very western city, reminds me of Stockholm and is REALLY cool too. My second favorite city in Germany. A very big positive aspect is that the hall chosen is situated in central Hamburg, so it would be kind of the Oslo feel to it.

Hannover. Apparently the hall is located outside of Hannover which wouldnt be that much fun. Otherwise i dont know much about Hannover other than the fact that Lena is from there.

Dusseldorf. The only one who is offering an arena, big enough for 50,000 people. The question is if this is good. It was hard enought to fill all the seats during the semifinals in previous years. I dont know much more about this city of Dusseldorf.

I dont like the song. At all. But Lucy Liu and The Wasp from Denmark might just take the contest to Copenhagen next year.

There was this certain wibe, at the second dress rehearsal, that I only felt about Fly on the wings of love before (from the shows I have seen live). And if that isnt an omen then what is?

The two have no chemistry on stage but their performance is PERFECT. Having stolen parts from very famous Police and Tina Turner songs, but I guess the audience doesnt mind…

I still have my hopes up for Israel and secretly I wish Lena will win the whole thing.

However, France is a MAJOR crowd pleaser and it’s amazing to see how they get the audience to clap and sing along in only 3 minutes.

Greece and Serbia will do well for this reason too.

I really hope that people will forget the Azerbaijani whining as fast as hell, we are so lucky she is the first one out.

However for Spain Im sorry they have the horrible place number 2 since the song is so charming!

Forgot to mention Manga. If the MTV kids tune in for some fine eurovision culture tonight, they will get a good spot.

Host country Norway will not add another statistic and come last this year, im thinking top ten, at least.

My predictions:

WInner: Denmark

Top five: Denmark, Germany, Israel, Belgium, France,

(closely followed by Serbia, Greece and Iceland)

My hope:

Winner: Germany

Top five: Germany, Israel, Spain, Serbia, Iceland

Running order for the final of the Eurovision Song Contest:

Azerbaijan, Spain, Norway, Moldova, Cyprus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belgium, Serbia, Belarus, Ireland, Greece, Great Britain, Georgia, Turkey, Albania, Iceland, Ukraine, France, Romania, Russia, Armenia, Germany, Portugal, Israel, Denmark.

Lithuania. Sorry guys. I thought you would pass to the final but the singer just looks so unhappy. I know they are angry that they have to do all the dirty work in the EU, but its like they are saying “get up and dance or ELSE we will plug your toilets!” Will not pass.

Armenia. This is the tallest girl ever. AND she has the longest hair ever. I wonder if she will be barefoot live too. No objections here. Will pass.

Israel. I still think this is the winner, but I think he was holding back. I HOPE he was holding back. Will pass.

Denmark, Even dont I dont like Denmark, I have to say they sound VERY professional on stage. Will pass.

Switzerland. This guy can sing and perform, but his charm doesnt come across. Lets see what happens. I dont think it will pass.

Sweden. The red lights were tried out in the audience. Anna sounds good as always. I was betting on her not making it before. I change my mind and swop Lithuania and Sweden. Will pass.

Azerbaijan. This girls looks angry. I know she has been cheated on or something, left outside in the rain, but people dont vote for angry girls. It will still pass.

Ukraine. AH,she screams, but she has a fine scream. Im not sure if pepple will go for her fillings or her headbanging. Im betting they vote. Wont pass.

Netherlands. EVERYBODY is singing this song. i have heard artists like Filippa sing it, Stefan Raab loves it, i think back on Sandra Kim and think this ringtone will pass. It is a nice one.

Romania. Very professional. I like this more and more. Definitely more than Azerbaijan. Should pass.

Slovenia. Still a messy song and not enough exyugoslav countries in this final to vote for them. The others just wont get it. Wont pass.

Ireland. AH, goosebumps. AND she looks good. Nice purple dress and the woman is SO Nice. She is so sweet to her fans and she seems just genuine. I really want this to pass. But maybe it wont. Since I have one too many I have to take this one out.

Bulgaria. The show is good, he is not very charming but this is a VERY good song. Many say it wont pass, i say it will.

Cyprus. Boring, repetitive, still. Jon tries to sell the song consisting of one line. Wont pass.

Croatia. These girls are SO lovely. I want to become a Feminem. I wonder what the message is with having female dancers dressed in black leather looking very masculine and dancing very intimitely with the girls. Will pass.

Georgia. She tries a lot, she does but it is just lacking something. To much motion going on on stage, very messy with all these dancers. Wont pass.

Turkey. Why a robot is present on stage is a big mistery to me. These guys can really rock the place. Will pass.

Ok, so I cant forget to review the songs that are automatically already in the final. The big four paying the most money to EBU and the winner from last year.

2. Spain – Daniel Diges – Algo pequeñito
Una paloma blanca. Remember the Habla con ella Almovodar movie? I hear this entry and think of that moment in the film. This guy has everything you need, the hair, the voice and the song. It is great in its simplicity. Of course, so far I think im the only one who thinks this could win. 5 points.
http://www.rtve.es/mediateca/videos/20100223/actuacion-daniel-diges-destino-oslo/702069.shtml
3. Norway – Didrik Solli-Tangen – My heart is yours
I have forbidden myself to listen to this to not spoil it. Because I know, if Norway would win in 2010 I would NOT be as surprised as I was in 2009. I know it sounds like Titanic and You raise me up, but my heart belongs to Didrik. And THIS norwegian is actually cute, nothing like the hobbit! Five points.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5nCcY4Vcwc
12. UK – Josh Dubovie – That Sounds Good to Me
Stock and co wrote this song. Im not sure WHEN they wrote the song, probably Rick Astley rejected this song in 1985. This is time travel at its worst. But of course, it has grown on me, this weird “song” and the corny lyrics “just add your laughter happy ever after I dont know about you but that sounds good to me”. I think this will be played well after 2010 just like UK 2007 (Flying the flag) (and they came 23rd). The choreography is legendary too “puts her hand to her ear”. 3 points.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aZQh8kfR6I
18. France – Jessy Matador – Allez! Ola! Olé!

Non. non. non. C’est quoi ca? it sounds like the horrible song “Zidane il a frappé” from 2006′s Coup de Boule. And that was at least a bit funny. Jessy’s version is not. 0 points.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buBPjJeLTyQ
22.Germany – Lena Meyer-Landrut – Satellite
Wouldnt it be nice if Germany won again? Lena is the most charming girl in this year’s contest. Cant wait to hear her SPEAK in this funny accent of hers, in English I mean. At first I thought this was a non-song. But by now, these are one of the few songs that I cant stop listening to. I hope Lena will charm the rest of Europe too. FIVE points (and hopefully winner, if not Israel)
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xck0u5_lena-meyer-landrut-satellite_music

Most likely end result: 1. Israel 2. Germany

I wish for this end result:

Winner: 1. Germany 2. Israel

My top (in no particular order):

5 points: Germany, Israel, Croatia, Slovakia, Serbia, Spain, Norway

4 points: Moldova, Russia, Belgium, Greece, Iceland, Lithuania, Switzerland, Bulgaria.

Here we go, time has come for the Thursday semi-fínal.
What i think about the songs in the Second semi Final of ESC 2010:
I have also added points from 1-5, 5 being the highest.

Second Semi-Final SF2 27.05.2010:

1. Lithuania – InCulto – East European Funk
Happy happy song from crazy crazy guys that makes my heart jump several times. Of course one comes to think of “We are the winners, of Eurovision” from a few years ago, but this is so much better. And that song came like 5th or something. Any the lyrics are excellent, can they come over and clean my house…? No, we arent all equal although we all are from the EU. 4 points.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwceXvtwCaY
2. Armenia – Eva Rivas- Apricot Stone
Hm. At first I hated it. Then i thought it was ok. Then I heard the power in Eva’s voice towards the end. But still, it leaves me feeling, hm, kind of stone cold and hard? Not very warm nor fuzzy like an apricot. Her long hair fascinates me though. One point for the hair and girl so 3 points all together.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfsvVW38wUI
3. Israel – Harel Skaat – Milim

According to me this year’s winner. The Voice. The Boy. I have no idea what he is singing about but the words leave me speechless. If I could give more than 5 points I would.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUg-yyiAGqY
4. Denmark – Chanée & Tomas – In a moment like this
AHHHHH, i cant believe this obvious rip-off is a favorite. It sounds like the Police and Bryan Adams and Tina Turner put together resulting in a revolting performance and a song I dont want to speak about. Seriously 0 points. I dont care what you say.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XECkVZkfUQE
5. Switzerland – Michael von der Heide – Il pleut de l’or
Haha, funny flirting with It hurts by Lena Philipsson. Song sounds good even in German, but French works just fine for me. It is somewhere between 3 and 4 but in the end the cute ears tip the scales towards 4 points.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTcAerUAyQg&feature=player_embedded
6. Sweden – Anna Bergendahl – This Is My Life
Not my favorite in the Swedish final. But it was a powerful performance with the light sticks in the audience. Apparently they will have those again in Oslo. But even though the song and the performance is very powerful there is something that highly disturbs me about this song. Maybe the lack of a chorus? Maybe Anna’s eyebrows? On tape she doesnt work at all, live she might. But most people wont see her live. 2 points.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54HckZbrqBA
7. Azerbaijan – Safura – Drip Drop

A country and a performer that believe more in themselves than in their economy. They hire Beyonce’s choreographer (im pretty sure it’s his stand-in) who is the person behind the funny hand-wave. The songwriters listened to Rihanna for hours on end before writing this song and Safura looks like she’s seen a ghost. I wonder how she will do live. People say this might win. I say, no way. But still, the song is catchy. 3 points.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHOklpjK4tA
8. Ukraine – Alyosha – Sweet people
She tries and she tries and she screams and I still cant remember the song. Im sure Pink is her idol but that doesnt make it better. 2 points.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LX6Q8XqztU

9. The Netherlands – (Pierre Kartner) Sieneke – Ik bin verliefd

Ik bin verliefd in this girl and in this song. I know. Kill me now. I hated it at first. HATED IT. And I never thought I would find this cute. But hearing the Dutch language and mokka eis, I melt. 2 points for the melted ice cream in my heart.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCmg5fuJ-eY
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uoGUQ4J-io
10. Romania – Paula Seling & Ovi – Playing With Fire
This is Norwegian singer Ovi singing with Romanian Paula, playing two pianos. It has power, it has energy, but it sounds the same the full 3 minutes. But it is one of the better songs of the contest. One point per minute. 3 points.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjk5drWjSss&hd=1
11. Slovenia – Ansambel Roka Žlindre Kalamari – Narodno Zabavni Rock
Naj voooooooooo! Ok, it is like 3 songs, at least. But it makes me so happy!!!I think of happier times inthe 80s and probably even happier times in the 1880s or something. Makes me smile. 3 points.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvHZyFp0h5g
12. Ireland – Niamh Kavanagh – It’s for you
I cant for the life of me remember how this song goes. There are so many different melodies and I hear something in my head, but Im not sure if it’s “Neve”. We’ll see how it will do, 1993 was the first time she was in it and won. This time she might not even make it to the final. 2 points.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qkalp05T8BE
13. Bulgaria – Miro – Angel Si Ti

I love everything about this song except for the singer. It has power, it has the melody, It is growing like it should. If I just didnt have to watch him. It should have been five, but it only gets 4 points.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJr-oBcDNcA
14. Cyprus – Jon Lilygreen & The Islanders – Life looks better in spring
No. NO. no. I dont care how cute Jon is and how much of his soul he puts into this “song”. This sounds like a bad copy of Sweden’s song this year, eg, one verse on repeat the whole song with no chorus. I will give 1 point to Jon. For giving up Wales to come to Cyprus to sing this piece of sh—t.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bHgvOesfSc
15. Croatia – Feminem – Lako je sve
Beauty Queens 2008. They came third in their national final in Serbia with a song very similar to this, written by the same guy who wrote Molitva.I LOVE this. It has everything a good song has to have. Plus it is sung in my favorite eurovision-language: some kind of serbo-croatio-bosnigovenese. 5 points.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kLdvHb6fvGE&feature=related
16. Georgia – Sopho Nizharadze – Shine

It doesnt shine, Sofia does, but song is utterly boring and is going absolutely nowhere. It doesnt matter that she tries so hard, it makes it worse actually. 2 points.
http://www.youtube.com/watch#v=q_yq8lQVaso&feature=related
17. Turkey – maNga – We Could Be The Same
They have won many awards. On MTV. Good for them. In the ESC they shouldnt. This is quality music but not the kind I like. 2 points.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=splmkJbvGcU

Last year I did this review on all the songs before the contest started. So i thought i should do it againg…
What i think about the songs in the First semi Final of ESC 2010:
I have also added points from 1-5, 5 being the highest.

1. Moldova – SunStroke Project & Olia Tira – Run Away
A very good dance song. Violins put to good use. Excellent saxophone solo. Cool looking singing. This act is almost perfect. 4 points.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXYsc9csso8
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5HZKPexfuc
2. Russia – Peter Nalitch Band – Lost and Forgotten

My heart melts. Really. This group is so adorable and I’m amazed nobody gets this. How can you NOT love Russia when they DON’T send some dima, lesbian-wannabes or singerswhoforgot to put on clothes. So obviously faking real bad English and I just want to kiss the boys all over. The corny dialogue is a classic that will be remembered for years. 4 points.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bwLGlrmHC8
3. Estonia – Malcolm Lincoln – Siren

Sure. It is not catchy. I love Estonia for trying this difficult pulsing pop. It is absolutely brilliant and will be so misunderstood. Just like Sebastien Tellier in 2008. And they look like they can actually sing live. Just a tiny tiny bit boring. 3 points.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gg7pAmRhDqE
4. Slovakia – Kristina – Horehronie

When i first heard this I thought “this is the year when Slovakia wins”. This song has everything, ethnicity, genuity. I love the Slovak language and I cant help but to think back on one of my all time favorites. Slovakia in 1998, Katarina Hasprová and Modlitba. 5 points.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4E0VOsdRB8s
5. Finland – Kuunkuiskaajat – Työlki ellää

I can’t stand this polka-sound. Reminds me of why I hate Rybak. And there is something about their voices, I cant put my finger on it but it annoys me. Maybe I just expect those eye-brows to suddenly appear on stage. But I will be clapping along when you are supposed to. 1 point.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdZLp0GxrBs
6. Latvia – Aisha – What for?

First time I heard this I feel in love. Despite of Aisha’s awful live singing. I’m afraid she won’t do well live at all. The lyrics are so bad they almost become profound. Im sure Mr God is just a false translation but despite of that I think it’s brilliant. If Aisha could just find the right key and not sound like a 12 year old wanting to be a grown-up. Only Mr God knows why that is. I’m split between 2 or 3 points. Hm, she gets 2. Ok, 3, I hear you uncle Joe.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=viTLyXox-EA
7. Serbia – Milan Stanković – Ovo je Balkan
First time I heard this I thought i would puke at the sound of those trumpets. Or the “eh eh eh”. Or his hair. But now i LOVE THIS!! Especially the “lubish me kopala” and “oh moje balkan”- bit. i just hope europe gives this a chance. 5 points.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vhxz_W2_ou4
8. Bosnia & Herzegovina – Vukašin Brajić – Munja i Grom- Thunder and Lightning

I have no idea why he decided to sing in English. In Bosnian it had something. In English it sounds like some horrible very plain rock. And im sure we cant even find a fake rocker who really likes this. Not even David Hasselhoff. 1 point. Just to get more than Belarus.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7x1UJgN_GQ8&feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5gNLcBA0GU

9. Poland – Marcin Mrozinski – Legenda

Funny but here the ethnic sound turns me on. Of course many say he tries to sound like a certain Norwegian hobbit from last year. Id say he’s cuter, sings better, and has a less annoying tune. Just somewhere towards the end they could stop with the repetition. We get it by then. Got more once, now only 3 points, but could grow live.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QgKKXZy2Hc
10. Belgium – Tom Dice – Me and My Guitar
I might be the only one who says this, but i think Tom could win the whole thing. He has a simple good song. His voice is very listen-worthy and he has that kind of boyish charm looking like “you know im scared shit being here so please vote for me, at least all the mommys out there?”. I think some of the people who voted for Rybak will vote for this. And I wont hate them this time. 4 points.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqZdOc6E4m8
11. Malta – Thea Garrett – My Dream
First time listening to this I was in shock. WHAT was Malta thinking sending this old looking woman with a song that sounds like it belongs in the 90s. And remember, the 90s were not the peak years of Eurovision. The violins are NOT put to good use here. But the girl can sing. She is 17 and can sing. I close my eyes and see a very cute Minnie Mouse cartoon performing the grand final of the latest Disney film. But how many times can you use the same word? I DREAM of a world where Malta wins the whole thing. Only in their dreams. 1 point.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12_CHCZYBjo
12. Albania – Juliana Pasha – Nuk mundem pa ty
Strong voice. Strong girl. Sounds like she could be black. Or Anastacia. But the song is very catchy. Again, the Albanian was SO much better. Now it gets 2 points.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ip92tYigzTI
13. Greece – Giorgos Alkeos & Friends – OPA
Annyoed Giorgos asks us to move. He should be happy he has such cute dancers and such a catchy song. Reminds me of Greece’s S.A.G.A.P.O from 2002. And that is not a bad thing. Just hope Giorgos sings better than Rakintzhs did back then. 4 points.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icVe95fF0K4
14. Portugal – Filipa Azevedo – Há Dias Assim
What a voice. Song is a bit out-of-date though. But I like this. However, I think the European viewers will think they are watching 1999 years contest and not 2010. 3 points.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgcmgQ35sIE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-W9Uk_j0vc
15. FYROM – Gjoko Taneski ft Billy Zver & Pejcin – Jas Ja Imam Silata

Im probably the only one who thinks this, but I dont think this is bad. And they have the sense to keep it in the original. Points only for that. I dont even give points off for the rapper who accidently sang in this song just because he didnt qualify in the national final of Macedonia. 3 points.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mvT3I5cUMQ
16. Belarus – 3+2 – Butterflies

I need to puke. Where is the toilet? Are they seriously serious in these emotions? do they think we will buy this? and yes we are SO surprised they all turn to butterflies. I hope they will do that in Oslo, but please before a single one of them starts singing any of their “unpuhssibluhh” lyrics. Where is Ralph Siegel when you need him? O points. No, just 0.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_d-kXurlO8
17. Iceland – Hera Björk – Je Ne Sais Quoi

Smoking powerlady from the country who gave us the puffing mountain. Apparently she baked cookies and sold them to be able to afford all the fabric in that big dress. But all in all she has a beautiful voice, and since I met her I have to admit that she is one of the most charming artists I’ve met. But song is like “ive heard and seen this before” (where? let me help you, Malta 2009 and Iceland 2008) Still 4 points. yes. For Eynafjallajokull.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6dpooV4tlQ

Most likely to qualify to the final: Moldova, Slovakia, Belgium, Iceland, Finland, Latvia, Portugal, Albania, Poland, Greece
Who I would like to qualify: Slovakia, Russia, Iceland, Estonia, Belgium, Portugal, Serbia, Greece, Poland, Moldova

I’m excited and sad. We are heading towards the end and by next week, all songs will be known.

Update: I just came home from the dress rehearsal. Have to say the interval act is SPLENDID! havent been that enterained since the Blue man group. Ha! just kidding, still dont get what those blue men did there, other than perform for free for PR-purposes….does SVT have that little money?

This act will be a Norwegian-Swedish battle with artists such as Bobbysocks, Kicki Danielsson, Wigwam, Roger Pontare and others returning on stage. Apparently Rybak will be on stage tonite. Big surprise….not.

Many surprises coming up, apart from the interval act, many artists have changed clothes are changed their act. Unfortunately Timoteij hasnt changed one bit, which might have been a good idea.

Again, i got the most goosebumps from Peter, who sang his song EVEN better than before, if that is possible. He is also a very nice guy!!

Jessica Andersson’s voice was amazing. With Anna, I had a bit of the Sibel feeling from 2008, it is a powerful song, but well, i dont know. I guess it will win no matter what I say…

Salem included another person on stage. I recognized him right away, not everyone did….its a famous Swedish comedian…

The most exciting preselection final is yet to take place though, the Swedish one, and I wanted to take this opportunity to review the songs. All in all I have to say, knowing the rest of the songs chosen from other countries, all of these would be good choices, except for maybe one. Mr Winy.

You can listen to all of them here.

And here are my reviews according to the running-order on Saturday, March 13, 2010.

1. Darin - You’re out of my life

He is cute and has a wonderful voice. He’s caught a bit of Jade’s sighing disease. I don’ t think this will win, among the ballads it just isn’t the strongest.

Prediction: 7/10

My hope: 9/10

2. Pernilla Wahlgren – Jag vill om du vågar

Oh, I just love this! Traditional Swedish Schlager at its best. Could have been performed by Linda Bengtzing but this year 42 year-old Pernilla does a come-back, with style and lots of gold. Ok, Stock Aitken Waterman won’t call her this time around, but maybe this will let her do musicals for another 10 years at least.

Prediction: 6/10

My hope: 3/10

3. Andreas Johnson – We can work it out

This is my least favorite. Mr Winy. This guy is the master of nasal singing and I just don’t like it. It just does nothing for me, doesn’t grow on me either. I dont think the Swedish people nor the juries will like this. I hope!

Prediction: 10/10

Hope:10/10

4. Timoteij - Kom

This would be the best combo for Eurovision. And please have them sing in Swedish. The Turkish beat with Nordic voices and instruments. I really hope this will represent Sweden. If Jöback won’t.

Prediction: 1/10

Hope: 2/10

5. Peter Jöback - Hollow

My personal favorite. I don’t care what anyone says. I know, he is a bit nasal too, but the voice is SO powerful. My favorite song from the whole contest including Salvatore from the first semi. I have this on repeat and Im not tired of it yet. However, too many ballads in Eurovision already..

Prediction: 3/10

Hope: 1/10

6. Ola Svensson – Unstoppable

In direct competition with Manboy I think i prefer this. But maybe only because Manboy reminds me SO much of another song…However, I think Manboy will do better.

Prediction: 9/10

Hope: 6/10

7. Jessica Andersson – I did it for love

This is the kind of song that has to mature in your mind. And it does. However Anna B’s song is more powerful. Advantage of people hearing it three times before (semifinal and second chance).

Prediction: 8/10

Hope: 5/10

8. Salem Al Fakir – Keep on walking

No, for me this is still too boring and I don’t like his voice. In the end Anna B is more powerful than this one.

Prediction: 5/10

Hope: 8/10

9. Anna Bergendahl - This is my life

This is really powerful. Beautiful and genuine voice. I get some flashbacks from Sophie Zelmani, but just a smidge. I really like it, but for Eurovision I found it a bit monotonous. However, it might win. I think it is also an advantage to have been in the last semifinal as people will remember it. On Saturday I will look out for the mysteriously vanished guitar.

Prediction: 2/1o (audience’s vote)

Hope: 4/10

10. Eric Saade – Manboy

Dangerously placed as the last song, and we know what this means, statistically…

It has a very nice beat, but his vocals aren’t that strong. However, this will do well, and would do really well in Eurovision, especially sounding a bit like Womanizer. It just gets so boring after very few times listening.

Prediction: 4/10

My hope: 7/10

And this is what I hope and predict will win, would be a nice change for Sweden:

So we have two new songs tonight.

Belgium seems to have chosen something that for sure will get them to the final. Really nice voice, kind of James Blunt feel. Song is called Me and My Guitar and singer is Tom Dice. I predict this will get a few votes. Especially from Denmark who might think it’s their song.

However, Russia, after a really entertaining show with both Dima Bilan and Rybak performing picked a horrible entry. It sounds like they found it back in 1977. They just dont want to win that is for sure. Peter Nalitch with Lost and Forgotten. Which it will surely be. No final for Russia this year.

However, this was the MOST entertaining in the Russian preselection tonite. Babushkas sing in urdu or something like that…

And although Italy isnt in the contest anymore they try their luck in Russia with this VERY cute guy!

Unfortunately my preshow favorite messed up big time. His vocals were REALLY bad.

And then the one I liked, of course, the girl’s name is Katerina and she sings in French…And looks a bit like Swedish Sahlene.
