I’m excited and sad. We are heading towards the end and by next week, all songs will be known.
Update: I just came home from the dress rehearsal. Have to say the interval act is SPLENDID! havent been that enterained since the Blue man group. Ha! just kidding, still dont get what those blue men did there, other than perform for free for PR-purposes….does SVT have that little money?
This act will be a Norwegian-Swedish battle with artists such as Bobbysocks, Kicki Danielsson, Wigwam, Roger Pontare and others returning on stage. Apparently Rybak will be on stage tonite. Big surprise….not.
Many surprises coming up, apart from the interval act, many artists have changed clothes are changed their act. Unfortunately Timoteij hasnt changed one bit, which might have been a good idea.
Again, i got the most goosebumps from Peter, who sang his song EVEN better than before, if that is possible. He is also a very nice guy!!
Jessica Andersson’s voice was amazing. With Anna, I had a bit of the Sibel feeling from 2008, it is a powerful song, but well, i dont know. I guess it will win no matter what I say…
Salem included another person on stage. I recognized him right away, not everyone did….its a famous Swedish comedian…
The most exciting preselection final is yet to take place though, the Swedish one, and I wanted to take this opportunity to review the songs. All in all I have to say, knowing the rest of the songs chosen from other countries, all of these would be good choices, except for maybe one. Mr Winy.
You can listen to all of them here.
And here are my reviews according to the running-order on Saturday, March 13, 2010.
1. Darin - You’re out of my life
He is cute and has a wonderful voice. He’s caught a bit of Jade’s sighing disease. I don’ t think this will win, among the ballads it just isn’t the strongest.
Prediction: 7/10
My hope: 9/10
2. Pernilla Wahlgren – Jag vill om du vågar
Oh, I just love this! Traditional Swedish Schlager at its best. Could have been performed by Linda Bengtzing but this year 42 year-old Pernilla does a come-back, with style and lots of gold. Ok, Stock Aitken Waterman won’t call her this time around, but maybe this will let her do musicals for another 10 years at least.
Prediction: 6/10
My hope: 3/10
3. Andreas Johnson – We can work it out
This is my least favorite. Mr Winy. This guy is the master of nasal singing and I just don’t like it. It just does nothing for me, doesn’t grow on me either. I dont think the Swedish people nor the juries will like this. I hope!
Prediction: 10/10
Hope:10/10
4. Timoteij - Kom
This would be the best combo for Eurovision. And please have them sing in Swedish. The Turkish beat with Nordic voices and instruments. I really hope this will represent Sweden. If Jöback won’t.
Prediction: 1/10
Hope: 2/10
5. Peter Jöback - Hollow
My personal favorite. I don’t care what anyone says. I know, he is a bit nasal too, but the voice is SO powerful. My favorite song from the whole contest including Salvatore from the first semi. I have this on repeat and Im not tired of it yet. However, too many ballads in Eurovision already..
Prediction: 3/10
Hope: 1/10
6. Ola Svensson – Unstoppable
In direct competition with Manboy I think i prefer this. But maybe only because Manboy reminds me SO much of another song…However, I think Manboy will do better.
Prediction: 9/10
Hope: 6/10
7. Jessica Andersson – I did it for love
This is the kind of song that has to mature in your mind. And it does. However Anna B’s song is more powerful. Advantage of people hearing it three times before (semifinal and second chance).
Prediction: 8/10
Hope: 5/10
8. Salem Al Fakir – Keep on walking
No, for me this is still too boring and I don’t like his voice. In the end Anna B is more powerful than this one.
Prediction: 5/10
Hope: 8/10
9. Anna Bergendahl - This is my life
This is really powerful. Beautiful and genuine voice. I get some flashbacks from Sophie Zelmani, but just a smidge. I really like it, but for Eurovision I found it a bit monotonous. However, it might win. I think it is also an advantage to have been in the last semifinal as people will remember it. On Saturday I will look out for the mysteriously vanished guitar.
Prediction: 2/1o (audience’s vote)
Hope: 4/10
10. Eric Saade – Manboy
Dangerously placed as the last song, and we know what this means, statistically…
It has a very nice beat, but his vocals aren’t that strong. However, this will do well, and would do really well in Eurovision, especially sounding a bit like Womanizer. It just gets so boring after very few times listening.
Prediction: 4/10
My hope: 7/10
And this is what I hope and predict will win, would be a nice change for Sweden:
